  • Moving

I thought the music had a familiar feel, and was excited to see that Hans Zimmer composed the instrumental tracks for this film. I was sad to only see a few by him, but his theme for Solomon is truly moving.
  • Best movie I've seen

An amazing masterpiece. 12 year a slave makes me realize how blessed I am to have freedom. You never realize how much you have until you have it taken away. There is so much to learn from this movie.
  • Excellent music. However...

I enjoy this album, and will no doubt return to it many times. The contributions from Alicia Keys and Gary Clark, Jr. are especially powerful. But I was hoping to find a couple of particular instrumental passages from the film—especially the music that was played while Solomon was on the slave ship. That isn't here, so don't make my mistake—listen to those previews and make sure you know what you're getting.

    The movie…the score…the actors…are amazing. Enough said.

Misery Chain is the most moving tracks I have heard in a long time. I can't wait to see the movie!
  • Exceptional Score

Exceptional films require exceptional scores. Zimmer delivers powerful arrangements that drive the film to reach the emotional highs and lows that make 12 Years a Slave one of the most important films of the 21st century.
