As awful as I remember it!

Honestly experiment excuse or not I don’t see how anyone can think this garbage is listenable. At least the band has been trying to essentially apologize for this mess ever since it came out.

I shouldn’t have to explain why this album is so bad
THIS MONSTER LIVES!

I really don’t get the hate for this album. Sure the snare is pretty laughable but it’s not even a big issue once you get used to it. St. Anger is my 3rd favorite Metallica album and I will defend it until the day I die.
This isn’t Metallica.

I don’t consider this metallica since they weren’t a full band. No bassist. Horrible album!!

Not as good as Load or Death Magnetic, but one of their best. It’s a raw stream of emotion that really leans into groove metal. The last truly unique Metallica album (as of 2023).
Gawd awful noise!!

Some of these songs sound great live. Frantic, St. Anger, Some Kind Of Monster, and the unnamed feeling need to be played live a lot more. But the production is god awful, Kirk doesn’t solo at all, and the snare drum sounds like a toolbox being pushed down the stairs. Overall, this doesn’t deserve the amount of hate it gets, but it’s still Metallica’s worst record
It’s better than you remember

But it’s still not good. Far from it.
Remaster it with NORMAL drumming and change some vocals, you get a decent 4 out of 5 star album.
Well… it was bound to happen.

Even the greats like Metallica have lost sanity before. This album proved my theory. Several bands had this happen. Disturbed, Godsmack, Guns N’ Roses… The list goes on.
Lars is bad

The snare sounds like the Taco Bell bathroom
