There’s some good stuff in this album. The production is mediocre, the riffs are really memorable, and it sounds great live

When they came back with this album I was very impressed that they managed to do it even with the change of voice. And the thing is that with the rhythm’s of those songs, the voice is perfect.
Good album

Brings back that old school flavor and mix . A good metallica record and much needed. This album really grows on you . Great riffs great songs . Get past the bad production and take it for what it is .
Broken Beat and Scarred

Broken, Beat & Scarred is the most original sounding riff Metallica has produced on this record. Cyanide is another good song with positive message. There’s just too much departure from the sound of all the earlier albums that’s not comfortable and hard to relate. I love the positive message of broken beat and scarred. Needs to be more songs with positive messages on future albums. Love Now that we’re Dead on new album in that regard.
My opinion.

Don’t get me wrong! Metallica has made many a great album since And Justice For All. I know they’re much more than just another thrash metal band. While this might not fall into the same canon as the first four albums (which in my humble opinion are there absolute best ), this is still an excellent album and return to form. Such a solid album from start to finish! Favorite tracks: The End of the Line, The Day that Never Comes, Cyanide, All Nightmare Long, That Was Just Your Life. A very underrated album indeed!
A powerhouse of a record.

Judas kiss is one of the best songs Metallica has ever written. There’s so many good stuff in here. Cyanide. That was just your life. But the real champ here is Judas kiss. 8 minutes of pure hard rock / metal technique and aggression.
