I was riding around town on a saturday listening to WRVR (a famous Jazz Station in NY at the time), when Les Davis had this artist on the air talking about his new album and how he was going to be at the Bottom Line that evening. As soon as I got home I called my lady friend and told her we were going out that night. We had seats that were so close I had my elbows on the stage. Al performed with just bass, drums piano and that voice and took NY by storm. I still remember that night, and so does she.

I will never forget the first time I heard this album! I was a college dj and discovered this album in the new jazz section. I was immediately transformed to a smoky intimate jazz club with al jarreau on stage! This entire album is amazing because he was and is ahead of his time.
