  • Excellent mixes of DM dark masterpiece...

    By irv88sa
Im not a fan of the single of "stripped" but i do like the song in and of itself. Like the previous reviewer said, the gem is "But not tonight." though it only sees light tacked on to the end of the US version of Black Celebration, it is still one of the DM staples for me. Minimalistic but still upbeat, it is a great effort of mixing the dark sense of the album with the simply pop lyrics. Even this song is better than the material coming out now. B-side or not, i still consider this a great acheivement even if Mr. Martin L. Gore doesn't. Speaking of which, does anybody know why Black Celebraion was pulled from the US itunes store?

Stripped is a good song and is well represented here. The REAL gem here is But Not Tonight. A fabulous track that displays what a true songwriter can do even in his (admittedly) worst hour. Written and recorded in one day, it is perhaps the most underrated song in DM's entire catalog. The remixes are good too. Nice to see a shortened version of Fly on the Windscreen here as well. Sometimes that song seems to go on too long.
  • Best Depeche Mode Song Ever

    By Maxim Ultra
"Stripped" is the best Depeche Mode song of all time. Hands down. It captures everything that's great about the band. Dave Gahan's vocals are topnotch, it has some of Martin Gore's greatest lyrics, and Alan Wilder's soundscapes are perfection. The Highland Mix by Flood makes this fantastic song even better. The b-side "But Not Tonight," is a bit of a throwaway track, but a favorite among fans and fun in its own right. The Quiet Mix is another great take on the dark "Fly On The Windscreen," while "Black Day" is an alternative rendition of the classic "Black Celebration." Overall, this is one of the most rewarding singles that Depeche Mode has ever released.

The Highland mix will surprise those who like the Single version. This is not like the cheesie repetitive dance mixes that you usually find in the 80's. This one actually adds depth to the song. Love the industrial sounds.
