  • Better compare first

    By macaddiction
Before you buy this remastered version, you would do well to compare the sample of ‘Crazy’ from the original recording with the sample from the remastered product. There’s a big difference. To my ear it’s not in favor of the remastered version, which sounds dull and lifeless by comparison. In many cases, some of the industry's best recording engineers mastered the original recordings, and it’s not a given that Apple can make an improvement on what they did. I find that while some remastered recordings do sound better, other ‘Mastered for iTunes’ recordings fall short of the original. Always compare to make sure you get the one that sounds best to your ears.
  • Good compilation but

missing lots of other hits, nothing en espanol, and nothing w/ Nelsen Riddle. Nice to have the older hits from the first 2 greatest hits but all in all, pretty good value. Word of advice, only way to get what's missing is buy it song by song. Thankfully her entire cataloge is available (except the box set and that was missing alot of hits too).

Best female vocalist ever, absolutely. You will never regret buying this album, highly recommended.
  • Great Songs Here

Linda Ronstadt is perhaps one of the greatest female singers. If you are looking for something new and haven't heard her before, I would recommend this collection; and being remastered it's even better than before. For seasoned Linda fans: True this does not have every one of her genres (she had so many), but maybe there will be a volume 2 or more down the road. Even a collection of her more obscure songs would be nice. When was the last time you heard "Carmelita" or “Good Bye My Friend on the radio?
  • Almost Almost perfect. Almost

Two rather glaring omissions keep this set from being definitive, "Long, Long Time" and "Easy For You To Say" although "I Knew You When" which was a big hit finally gets remastered and a deserving spot on a hits compilation. With only fifteen tracks a disc there is plenty of programming space for more tracks, key albums are missing like her Spanish language releases and her excellent trilogy of Standards. Anything from her two "trio" albums would've been welcome and her cover of Tom Petty's "The Waiting" is deserving of a spot here. I think there'll never be a true definitive collection so for those of us longing for a comprehensive anthology we'll have to cut and paste from this set and that set and make our own custom collections.
